Fixed expenses

Fixed expenses are costs that stay broadly the same from month to month, such as rent or mortgage payments, insurance premiums, loan instalments and regular subscriptions. They are predictable, which makes them easier to plan for than costs that change with your behaviour.

They deserve attention because they set the floor under your budget. People often chase small daily savings while overlooking a large fixed cost that could be renegotiated.
