Savings rate

Your savings rate is the share of your income that you save rather than spend, usually expressed as a percentage. It is often calculated on net income while some people prefer gross, so comparisons need care.

It is a useful measure because it links what you earn to how quickly you build reserves or reach a goal. Small changes to income or spending move it, which makes it a practical number to track.
