Take-home pay

Take-home pay is the amount you actually receive each payday once income tax, social contributions and any other payroll deductions have been taken off. It can differ from your usual net figure when one-off items such as overtime or expense reimbursements appear in a particular period.

It is the number that matters for day-to-day budgeting, and it is worth checking your first payslip against your own estimate.
