How is this calculated?

Annual = monthly × 12. Weekly = annual ÷ 52. The hourly figure divides the weekly amount by the hours you work per week (default 40).

Per hour (at your hours/week): $16.92 — Weekly ÷ hours worked per week.

Frequently asked questions

Should I multiply my monthly salary by 12 or by 13?

By 12, unless your contract genuinely pays a 13th or 14th month. If you receive a 13th-month payment, add it as a separate amount: multiply your regular monthly salary by 12 and add the extra payment. This calculator assumes a 12-month year.

Are these figures gross or net?

They are whatever you type in. The conversion itself is neutral — if you enter your net monthly pay, you get net annual, weekly and hourly figures. Most people compare offers on gross pay, then use the Salary Calculator to estimate what actually reaches their account.

Why is the weekly figure not simply monthly ÷ 4?

Because months are not exactly four weeks long. A year holds 52 weeks across 12 months, so one month averages about 4.33 weeks. Dividing by 4 overstates weekly income by roughly 8%, which matters when you are building a weekly budget.

Which number should I use to compare two job offers?

The annual figure, because it is the only one that is immune to different payment cycles. Once you have both annual salaries, compare the extras that do not appear in either: pension contributions, paid leave, insurance, bonuses and commuting costs.
